In November 2019, Sanlam Umbrella Fund members will once again have the opportunity to elect independent trustees to represent them on the Board of Trustees of the Fund. These independent trustees have the knowledge, training and independence to protect members against any possible conflict of interest.
We are in the process of compiling the panel of independent candidates, taking into account qualifications, knowledge, and experience. The candidates will be entirely independent of Sanlam and not associated with a major competitor umbrella fund product offering.
Resumés of all candidates will shortly be distributed to every Joint Forum electronically along with a ballot paper, and the member-elected representatives at each Joint Forum (maximum two per participating
employer) will be requested to vote for their preferred candidates.
The election procedure is scheduled for the last two weeks in November, after which the independent trustees will be elected based on the number of valid votes received by the closing date.
Participating Employers and their consultants should look out for the communication in this regard and consultants are requested to support their clients with this process.
