The Sanlam Umbrella Fund is committed to helping our members better understand their retirement benefits. The Fund has a variety of member engagement resources, including the Sanlam Prosper Newsletter, Imali Zam Webinar Series, the Sanlam Knowledgebase platform, and our dedicated team of Retirement Benefits Counsellors, to support members on their retirement savings journey.

As part of our ongoing commitment to enabling members to understand their benefits and improve access to financial advice, we have introduced a proactive WhatsApp member engagement. The engagements are aimed at members who:

  • Have completed an annual emergency savings pot withdrawal
  • Are considering a withdrawal from their retirement savings as an annual savings pot withdrawal or at exit from their employer

This engagement was rolled out during the month of July.

Why we are doing this

Real-time engagement through WhatsApp enhances our ability to support and educate members about their retirement benefits and value-added services and shortens the gap between the member and access to a financial adviser.  The WhatsApp platform also ensures that information remains easily accessible on mobile devices, allowing members to reference it as needed, at their point of need.
