The Sanlam Umbrella Fund and compliance with POPIA – the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013
The fund and all its stakeholders such as employers, contracted benefit consultants and insurers will have to comply with the new requirements of POPIA from 30 June 2021.
Securing the integrity and confidentiality of the personal information in our possession or under our control has always been one of our core values but some work was required to comply with the new definitions and responsibilities contained in the Act. Much of this work has already been done by our administrator and sponsor, Sanlam Corporate (as per recent communication available here). We expect the transition to be a smooth one given our already focussed approach to privacy.
In the course of the next few months we will communicate with you the adjustments and tweaks we will make to our contracts, forms, processes and procedures.
