The Sanlam Umbrella Fund (SUF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joelene Moodley as its new Principal Officer. Joelene replaces Kobus Hanekom, who has retired from the role.
 
Joelene is an admitted attorney who holds a Master’s degree in Law as well as a BProc and a LLB degree and also completed an advanced Programme in Risk Management. She is currently studying for her MBA through the Henley Business School. She has held various positions at the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) and served as the Acting Principal Executive Officer for 18 months. She previously served as independent trustee on the Stanlib Classic Retirement Funds (Pension, Provident and Retirement Annuity funds). She is also currently the Executive Director at Vision Focus, a pension law, corporate governance and strategic financial management consulting company. Furthermore, she is an independent trustee on the Fairheads Unclaimed Preservation Pension and Provident Funds. Joelene also serves as trustee and principal officer on other section 26(2) Boards of Trustees, of certain Liberty dormant and reinstated funds.
 
Joelene’s appointment follows the recent announcement of the appointments of Yvette Harris and Shamiega Manuels as Sponsor appointed trustee and Head Fund Secretariat, respectively. The SUF is committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of our operations, and these appointments are key steps in this journey.
 
Joelene’s extensive industry knowledge and experience will enable the Fund to build on the strong foundation laid by her predecessor
