It is with mixed emotions that I share with you the news of Kobus Hanekom’s retirement as Principal Officer of the Sanlam Umbrella Fund (SUF). Kobus has been an integral part of the success of the Fund since its inception in 2008.
An instrumental figure and one of the leading visionaries in the retirement funds industry for decades, his expertise and experience in employee benefits have been invaluable to many of us in the industry. Kobus’s legacy will be felt for generations to come, and we are grateful for his unwavering commitment to the industry.
As we bid farewell to Kobus, I am pleased that Kobus has agreed to continue serving as a special consultant to the SUF board of trustees until December, allowing us to continue to tap into his wealth of knowledge and experience as we work to grow the umbrella fund.
We are also thrilled to welcome Joelene Moodley as our new Principal Officer. Joelene brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, having held various positions in the employee benefits industry. We are confident that she will continue to take the Fund forward, given the building blocks that Kobus and the Board have put in place.
