Sanlam recently introduced three new Healthcare offerings for clients and members of the Sanlam Umbrella Fund to launch with effect from 1 April 2023, namely:
- Sanlam Staff Care – a health offering that provides day-to-day benefits that includes telephonic access to a nurse consultation as well as face to face visits with a nurse and doctor.
- Sanlam Evolve EAP – an employee assistance programme to support and assist staff.
- Sanlam Gap cover – a short-term insurance product that provides an extra layer of financial protection offered at preferential rates.
Although we hoped to launch all three offerings on 1 April 2023, we have sadly been unable to get Regulator Approval for the Sanlam Staff Care product. We will continue to work on a solution to provide members with face to face doctor consultations, but at this stage we cannot commit on when this will be available.
With effect from 1 April 2023 however, we are proud to announce that the following health solutions are available:
Sanlam Virtual Doctor
A facility launched on the Sanlam Umbrella Fund in 2021, continues to be available to Sanlam Umbrella Fund member free of charge!
Members of the Fund have access to free and convenient consultations with a doctor or nurse online. We understand that members may not always have the time to visit a healthcare professional or have easy or affordable access to a doctor. Sanlam Virtual Doctor gives members of the Sanlam Umbrella Fund access to healthcare at the click of a button from virtually anywhere, directly from the Sanlam Corporate Member Portal or Sanlam My Retirement App – free of charge.
Members can receive referral letters or prescriptions for medication immediately via email. All engagements are strictly confidential. You can use the following member communication to share with staff to remind them of this existing benefit.
Sanlam Evolve EAP
With effect from 1 April 2023, Employers may elect to make the Sanlam EAP offering available to their members. The Sanlam Evolve EAP is designed to support and assist staff through difficult situations, empower them to make positive lifestyle changes, and enhance their well-being and productivity.
Sanlam Evolve EAP offers:
- 24/7/365 Toll-free clinical and professional counselling for employees and family
- Live text-based counselling
- Mobile app with wellness portal
- Special support service for Managers
- Comprehensive reporting for the human capital team
The offering is available at R15.82 (Excluding VAT) per employee per month, and the provider can customize a series of face-to-face counselling sessions if required.
Sanlam Gap cover
Members can elect to take up GAP cover. Gap cover is a short-term insurance product that provides an extra layer of financial protection.
It helps to cover certain shortfalls between what the medical aid scheme will pay, and the rates charged by in-hospital medical specialists. A Core and Comprehensive GAP offering is available for individual members and families at preferential rates.
