With the two-pot system fast approaching, it is critical that we find innovative ways to share information to enhance member education.

The Sanlam Umbrella Fund (the Fund) has a variety of member engagement resources, including the Sanlam Prosper Newsletter, Imali Zam Webinar Series, the Sanlam Knowledgebase platform, and our dedicated team of Retirement Benefits Counsellors, to support members on their retirement savings journey.

As part of our ongoing commitment to enabling members to understand their benefits, we introduced a new initiative in June 2024.

This initiative provides interactive engagement via WhatsApp to assist both new and existing members throughout their retirement savings journey – from onboarding when they first join the Fund, right through to retirement.

How it works

Onboarding: Members will receive information about their benefits and will be exposed to tools and resources (e.g. Sanlam Portfolio App, Retirement Benefits Counsellors) available to them as members of the Fund.

Active members: The WhatsApp engagement will cover various educational topics (e.g. Replacement Ratio, Two-pot basics, preservation etc.) to help them better understand their benefits and empower them to make informed decisions.

Why we are doing this

Real-time engagement through WhatsApp will enhance our ability to support and educate members about their retirement benefits and value-added services.

The WhatsApp platform also ensures that information remains easily accessible on mobile devices, allowing members to reference it as needed, at their point of need.
